The math

If your app has n ratings averaging c, and you want average t, you need x new 5★ ratings such that (n·c + 5x) / (n + x) ≥ t — solved: x ≥ n·(t − c) / (5 − t). The closer your target is to 5.0, the more it takes — that's why protecting your rating early beats repairing it later.
